I'd hardly be surprised if this ends up being true. Ultimate Team loot box probabilities are so awful you're better off buying the expensive cards from the EA employee who's allegedly running their own black market than taking your chances with card packs. Reminds me of the McDonalds Monopoly scandal where THE GUY who the company overseeing the contest was put in charge of randomly handing the "winner" the lucky piece had a scam where he'd give friends and family the winning tickets for a part of the take. As much as I find the entire situation shitty, the ONE bright side was that at least EA wasn't seeing a dime of those "microtransactions" (And the people spending that cash would probably have spent way more to get that lineup.)

By the way you mispronounced Arcade Fut. The Fut is pronounced like Fútbol. Which is what Fut is short for.

This whole debacle reminds me of something. I once worked for a distribution company; we'd deliver and install fridges, stoves, etc., to customers' homes, and they'd pay us to haul away their old stuff. During a morning meeting, the new-ish manager made accusations out of the blue that the delivery teams were selling these used products to make a fast buck. We all looked at each other and went, "What's he on about? Where did this come from all of the sudden?" Fast forward a couple months, and the manager vanishes. Corporate had investigated and fired him for selling old and used product to make a fast buck. Turns out he was just trying to corner the market for himself. Like that manager, EA hates competition, even when they're being unscrupulous themselves. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

EA definitely need to be held accountable for extremely unethical practises but players also need to take some responsibility as well. Those ones complaining about EA also probably buy fifa points, just stop. I’ve been playing FUT since day 1 and have never spent a cent on fifa points. Am i an elite level player? Absolutely not, but i understand the need for a grind to attain players i want. The game is broken because idiots who spend on fifa points ensure EA never have to worry about balanced gameplay to guarantee sales or billions in revenue via micro transactions. The idea to spend $100 to open 4 digital packs that don’t guarantee you anything, is beyond me and moronic. Play the game, enjoy it and don’t spend a penny more than the $70 you paid for the game itself and you will see their attitudes change. I know this won’t happen but that is literally the solution bar a radical reform or change in gambling laws which will take years.

To be honest, in a situation like this I cant even fell bad for the Fifa community. We all know that EA is greedy and Fifa is a casino disguised as a soccer game, thats nothing new. But if the situation got into this point, fifa players have some part on the guilt. They are the ones who bought the same game with a different cover every year, they are the ones who spent hundreds of thousands of dolars every single year on this lootboxes bullshit. Yes, this is EA fault for creating such an unfair plataform, but the community are also the ones to blame for accepting that

You know what? I can understand MTX for games with long lifespans, but doesn’t FIFA come out with a new game each year? Don’t the cards you collect become useless or wiped away when you get the new game? I am honestly surprised that there are people out there who engage with this sort of MTX. Spend $500 on a game only to lose everything once the new game comes out? Nope. I understand if you find the games fun. I’ve played some of these sports games and I know they can be fun to play and build teams in, but seriously, even if you have the money you shouldn’t spend so much on something where the return is so meager. Maybe I’m wrong, maybe your teams do carry over in which case this might actually be worth it.

Someone should start a class action lawsuit. The devs have stated that they can give u a pack but have 0 control or knowledge of what is in those packs. So if u buy a pack that says u will get 2 players 90+, 2 80+ and so many collectibles. You get 0 90+ players. Contact EA and offer pro Pack. LIES

Why doesn’t EA sell these ultra rare cards for like 5M coins or something? Also your online team should really carry over to the next game, just with your player being updated. I don’t know, what does it matter anyways? I just don’t see the point on wasting so much money on all this every year!

The problem isn't the EA employees selling shit to people. It's this gacha system that makes it lucrative in the first place. So long as that continues to exist, a black market for the rarest cards will continue to occur. Whether it's EA employees or hackers or something else. You - EA FIFA players - create this problem yourself whenever you buy into these games, whether it's buying the base game or buying its microtransaction BS. Complain all you want about it being pay-to-win - companies don't give a shit unless you speak with your wallet. Stop playing EA's FIFA, and this shit will eventually stop because it's not making EA money anymore. Until it stops making them money, they aren't going to stop doing it, it's that simple.

To be honest, I think this is wrong. EA should takes legal action against those who do black market trading. But revamping the game system? Nah, this system is perfect for sports games, sports gamers should feel the need to spend money in FIFA Ultimate, NBA 2K etc etc. This is PvP game is perfectly fine as Sports gamers just play sports games, so would be ashamed for EA to note exploit FIFA addict's addiction.

I can verify all of this. I've played FUT for years and honestly it's the most retarded scheme ever. I have allot of friends who don't really game but they play this mode on an annual basis. It is really their only hobby so sinking x% of monthly income into it isn't as detrimental to them as it would be to you or me. However the set up is blatantly retarded. I've played other loot based games and the % odds were always fair and most items were obtainable within a reasonable time frame. However FUT combines fucking insane odds with some cards being only obtainable on a weekly basis until the next TOWT gets their time to shine for the week. Meanwhile the game effectively resets after one year. You can play after that but you will have no access to TOTW cards, just Icons and basic gold players. Apart from that there's a messy economy after the game's players move to the next version of the game. So it's not really worth it. In all these years I've hardly netted a special card (I play casual) and the friends I refered to have only had a couple. Maybe 2-3 in the 5 years they played. This set up would be okay in a continuous game like COD Warzone. Either don't release 60,- versions of the game and update constantly or increase the odds. The problem is that EA is shit scared that their cashcow will eventually cease as more and more players collect all players they want. Not even the constant funneling of new talent in the sport assures them apparently.

I just wish gacha games like fifa or any other anime type games like genshin would remove these crazy prices. I feel if things were cheaper more ppl would be spending than just a few spending a lot. Just need to wait for government to final get ppl in office our age and not in their 80s so we can get some smart younger ppl dealing with issues relevant to them and everyone else. Change government and who you vote for or these issues will never go away. Just changed and made different so they can find a way to exploit the poor and middle class

truth be told, I don't think this is a scandal by any EA employees. The casino itself is a scandal that EA has made and put into a game. Actually any EA game with any loot box is already a scandal. However, as bad as it is to say, I am on the employee side for offering people unaffordable alternative rather than gambling millions of dollars away to get a single card. they are offering players a way to directly get what they want so they have a competitive Edge to actually make the game feel more worthwhile. EA should actually be taking notes, as the employees are, in all fairness, saving EA customers money. Of course, I don't condone any of this sort of business practice, as it is ridiculously priced, but I do feel like people should be able to unlock or outright by the players that they so want and they so cute. Or, something that hasn't been done in a long time, just give everyone the same players for free and wrap it all up inside of a DLC bundle. I know mine blowing right? also, these EA employees that are selling these cards, know the probabilities and chances more than anyone outside of ea. What this tells me, is there able to price out and offer these cards and items at, I'd assume, a more reasonable price than what EA is gambling is actually offering them at. We can tell a little bit by this because if players could get a guaranteed legendary item or whatever FIFA is, after a certain amount of card packs opened or after a certain amount of money has been spent, then there's no way that these employees would be able to justify or even get away with the price tags that they put on to their cards. These employees do know how much that each of these cards are worth, and they do know how to cut players a very practical bargain on what could drain someone's Bank account.

It's nice to see that EA is going through another scandal and it's absolutely hilarious how fast EA responded... yet I foresee they'll find a way to weasel out of this and go on with business as usual. Until politicians and government officials get their heads outta their butts and people stop spending thousands of dollars on virtual items that'll expire within a year this will keep being normalized.
