Guys this is EA. I'm sure a microtransaction of some kind will pop-up everytime one of the hackers tries to access their stolen source codes. Effectively making even more money than spending a bazillion amount of good cash to improve their cyber security.

I really want to sue Dice/EA because i can not play their games after paying money because of the hackers every day almost every game.

Software Engineer here. EA's defense isn't as bad as it sounds. I dislike EA, and it's their fault they were so vulnerable. However, if they had a vulnerability reporting process and this other company didn't follow that process, that isnt EAs fault. This is industry standard. You're supposed to report vulnerabilities through the system. If you want to submit a sales pitch, that can be a footnote of your report(s). It's totally incomprehensible to me that a company would try to make a sales pitch instead of going through the proper reporting channel. That being said, EA clearly needs a better approach to security.
TheLippspa 26 päivää sitten
The company ofc wants money from ea to help with the security. Otherwise they'll never get the help. Ea is multi billion dollars they should pay up to fix

The hacker(s) should publicly post how rare the gambling percents are, so we all know how rare the character drops are, since EA refuses to post the percent drop rates

I'm sorry EA, they didn't followed their disclosure procedure? Isn't that one related to their customers? :D You said they had a marketing pitch... and then you said not interested :D They hopefully wasn't the ones hacking you - but technically, it seems they could have been :D

ManofMercy 27 päivää sitten
Jeez, you'd think EA would've learned to up their security systems after what happened with CDPR getting their systems hacked/leaked/stolen. Guess it wasn't much of a profit to bother doing so then.

Creasedtech792 28 päivää sitten
EA is ran by clueless morons, to be honest they deserved to get hacked, those rejects have always been a complete pure cancer on gaming, instead of buying EA games, commiting piracy against EA titles should be a new norm, remember its not wrong to steal from criminals like EA, its the only way everyone can defeat the grand Satan of the gaming industry

This is what happens when gaming corporations mismanage and treat their employees like crap.I hope that money get paid out to the overworked devs and to demonolpize EA to its core🙌🙌🙌💯💯💯💯
Enigma 29 päivää sitten
As someone who works with technology, I agree with EA's defense. I personally get dozens of cold calls per week. (I can only imagine the volume of calls that more influential employees receive.) We acknowledge the random callers and place them on a list of questionable suppliers in case we encounter them in future development plans. We accept the responsibility of managing our company. We do not outsource corporate management to random cold callers. I completely disagree with Yong's suggestion that companies should take no responsibility of their own but, instead, let every kook on the block do it for them.

Crap like this, "surprise mechanics", and developers releasing completely broken games, is why I haven't bothered to buy a new game in almost 3 years. And even then, I still have to worry about the games I do still play whenever updates are released because 9 times out of 10, they usually end up breaking something with it.

Im willing to bet that EA will hire a company but it won't be the one that pointed out the weaknesses in their security. That's 'if' they hire. Chances are they'll probably pay some intern who was studying IT before working for EA to sort it out on the cheap.

EA should prove that they can keep up security for 5 years before any other company helps them out with dealing with hackers. if they cant do it themselves why should another company give them any kind of help...and this goes for any massive video game company not just EA

Hopefully they will tighten up security. The next Madden looks pretty decent, Battlefield 2042 looks awesome and we can hope for new Star Wars and other game announcements from EA.

If only people bought more products and cash items. These poor indie companies don't have the money for proper cyber security. EA should open a Patreon account and make an IndieGoGo and GoFundMe campaign to finance their cyber security.

I think they can only be fined if user data is exposed. So all that hard work from their developers means nothing to them.
