Just some observations: 1) FIFA is HUGE in Brazil, it is probably one of the biggest markets of the game. 2) Brazil isn't a small market for gaming, it is actually among the biggest ones.

@Xeric2007 lol, he does it with one word in every episode, not just this, he picks a common word and pronounces it exactly as it's spelled, he's trolling us. I refuse to believe he's that illiterate. I know if i were making videos and a word i want sure of came up I'd look up the correct pronunciation. Or I'd have fun trolling people lol

Loot boxes are a shameless cash grab based solely on random number generation. I don't see how we haven't came to the conclusion that it is gambling, already. I used to play Star Trek Online. There were guys in my fleet that spent over $200 a week on keys to open the loot boxes and the item draws were worse than powerball odds. Pay-to-play format has become a greed fueled disease. I won't play any game with a cash loot shop anymore. Closest I came to that crap as a kid was baseball cards and magic the gathering.

Shouldn't be the ratings raised to 18+ if such loot box feature added?

Of course we don't call the big spenders "whales" the exact same way casinos do. That's just a strange cOinCiDEncE. Even though our games look and act the exact same way as gambling games and definitely are!

Lets remember that younger kids are targeted; kids are more easily manipulated and can develop trends; dependencies and early addictions at a higher rate. I see many of these games companies as predators; in the same way as a child rapist, and no that is not too harsh; these companies need to be seen for the damage they do.
Lyrro 2 päivää sitten
Any politicians care to point out that if your game is safe for children as the rating suggests then parents shouldn't need to use parental controls to block their children from accessing those portions/games?

I am just gonna say one thing , I am 32 years old who played and loved games since i was 10 years old. I also bet on sports which i am not gona pretend is my addiction of gambling, the only positive side to that is that i have a limit in which i can control myself that much that i dont put myself into danger of losing all my income, but i am addictive because i cant go a week without betting. and loot boxes are goddamn straight gambling , they give you the same feeling to the teeth, the only way i dont open that many loot boxes is i realize they have absolulty 0 real world value but the problem is if you introduce that to the kids they dont know that yet their world is all about games and school , they dont understand yet that real world value so it has potental to really destroy their lives .. its scummy practice and it should be defaultly banned in games that are advertise to kids. Now go ahead games have a loot boxes in your games but make sure your games is 18+ only ...

I my honest opinion gambling in video games is wrong in it self but when it's in games designed for kids then it where it crosses the line of course companies will not rate it Mature it will hurt there sales SMH it's sad for companies to prey on kids maybe screw up there lives to make a quick buck this is why parents need to pay attention to what there kids r playing it can save a kid from problems in life

I work in casino gambling... There's a certain genre of facade in the client-facing aspect of it, usually regarding false certainty of winning, engaging in nonsensical beliefs on how to control outcomes in the players' favor, and encouraging outrageous risky bets. There's also the genre of facade facing the law, and the genre for facing the general public. Video game publishers seem to be the most clueless people in the biz. They can't get anything right. It'd amaze me if they ever found out that the square peg wont go into the triangle hole.

The hell is with the recommendations. If they dont wanna be classified as gambling, allow actual purchase of wanted item if real money is to be involved, not any "chance" bullshiet. Simulated gambling totally with in game stuff, fine, but if real money is to be involved, it should be direct purchases. Still damn hate microtransactions on fully paid games, tho But hey, money
doodoostickstain 6 päivää sitten
yeah i don't think this happens "because parents aren't aware" as much as it happens "because parents don't pay attention to what their kids are doing", or , "what the world is doing to their kids". it's like some dumb adult believing sugar cereals are healthy because the box says they're fortified with vitamins and minerals. you could argue this is not being aware (which is very true as well), but that education falls on the parent. they should probably make sure lil timmy isn't in fortnight being exposed to degenerates, or at the least, playing minecraft to just dig large crematoriums then burning virtual organisms alive in them for hours on end whilst laughing crazily.

They are aware how harmful they are, but because of how much money they make from it they will deny anything about it so they can keep using the system to milk their community. I really hope that when it's been regulated and it's actually considered as gambling by law. That EA and other companys has to pay for refusing to fix their lootboxes and basically destroying many kids lives

This is one of the reasons why I don't buy anything by EA anymore get rid of the loot boxes and I'd be more likely to try buying an EA game I don't even want to touch Electronic Arts backed indie game. It's the indie game companies fault for siding with Electronic Arts.

The difference between DLC and expansion packs vs loot boxes and "currency packs" is simple. The former ADDS to the game; the latter TAKES AWAY from it. The former is pro-content; the latter is anti-content.

Mobile titles especially. Look at Marvel Strike Force or Star Wars. They take well known brands and use gambling models in the extreme. MSF has multiple types of loot boxes, 2 game passes, multiple forced bottle necks, timed releases that go over months or years. They charge 80 to 100 for minor unlocks. It is shameful.
RandoDil 8 päivää sitten
Random thought. If EA truly believes that thier "Surprise mechanics" is "completely fun and ethical" how come they arent advertising it and showing how fun it is? 🤔

somedays when lootboxes were banned, publisher will simply blatantly monetize power with fixed price, like legendary gear that material can be farmed once a week, and you got one every week, and on cash shop you can buy one for 10$ each , spending 500$ will skip 1 year worth of time gated farming lol

Look man I've been thinking about this for a while and I actually have the perfect solution. You want the modern gaming ecosystem to go away with loot boxes and pay-to-win crap and all these miles of worthless microtransactions right??? Believe me when it gets to the point the parents are on the news talking about how these companies rip their kids off believe me that negative PR, it's going to trickle down to almost a stopping point. I mean see the thing is the kids are getting ripped off a lot of kids are getting ripped off but the media doesn't care about kids but you get enough of the parents involved they'll get the media and the politicans involved and I promise you these fucking worthless piece of shit companies that has been ripping us off for all these years while not me but other people will be almost kissing the public's ass overnight. Look at what happened with the creation of the ESRB. Kids were playing violent games nobody cared until the parents noticed it and then the parents started to care enough parents got pissed off that they got ahold of the media and the politicians and BOOM!!! All video games are now rated and not because the kids were pissed off because the company's pissed off the parents who have the voting power and the money.

Gamers should not have to pay a single cent for any cosmetic content. That used to be included in games a part of unlockable content based on the player capacity to finish the game or do some sort of achievement, which added to the fun factor and replayability of the game. With the internet era, they found a way to rip off consumers. To make them addicted. They just flat out created a paywall. Sometimes the content is even already on the disk, with should be illegal. The only content a consumer should pay for, is extra DLC that has been developed post release of the game, and that adds a significant amount of content to the game to justify the price. We should speak with our wallets. Think of all the things in life you could buy with the money you are giving away for "digital fairy dust"

If Lootboxes are not gambling "by the letter of the law", that is only because such gambling laws were made in a world that no longer exists. When gambling laws were first made, there were no loot boxes, there was no internet, there were no video games. Lootboxes ARE gambling (paying money for random reward), but they are legalised gambling.

I spent hundreds of dollars years ago on FIFA when I did not have a correct concept of money. EA takes advantage of young minds who do not understand how much they are spending in the long run. I remember thinking “oh it’s only just $10” and then another $10 and another and another. Fuck EA.

I find it amusing, that people need to do studies to link loot boxes to gambling. Slot machines are considered gambling. It's set in stone now. Loot boxes gives a random item from a table, and people keeps opening them hoping to get that extra rare thing, just like slot addicts keep spinning hoping to get that extra rare combination of symbols. Here, I did a study. Is it worth any dollah?

This can EASILY be fixed by slapping a M or Ao rating to any game that has loot boxes. That would make Overwatch, FIFA, Madden, NBA2k and other “E” games M for Mature or Ao for Adults Only. If a child gets their hands on those games after that it is 100% on the parents.
