4 years into Switch's life cycle and the best response they can give to joycon drift issues is to go to Nintendo support. I hope all the lawsuits carry through, this is getting ridiculous. @no name learn English, that was an absolute core to read. To address one of your "points" if Sony or MS made BotW it would be a minimum of 30gb, as it is its 13gb. Nintendo are the Kings of compression and other studios need to follow suit.

This is how we know YongYea is a fake gamer: He is complaining about an issue that affects 1% of switch users
N1nj4L1nk 13 päivää sitten
Look at the details coming to light in the French lawsuit, drift effects 1% of users. Yet here you are crying loud af as if it's on par with the rrod. Also, people either get it or they don't. The ones that don't continue to not get it on new joycon and the ones that do get it on every set they touch, it's down to the user (wash your hands, clean your home and stop griping the joycon so tightly).
xBedroomBoom Päivä sitten
4 years and fanboys are still going to give them money despite the drift defect. No sympathy, you get what you get. Stop buying into their platform/products and maybe when Nintendo’s bank account starts losing money they’ll pull their ignorant heads from the sand and look for the right solution. The consumer has all the power. Don’t forget!

I know this comment won't get seen, but I put a 1mm (15mmx15mm) copper shim, that are used for heat sinks etc, behind the thumbstick and that fixed it. It seems there is a weakness that occurs in the metal, at the back of the stick, over time and causes it to drift.
Cinemacynic 8 päivää sitten
If your Nintendo Switch's joycons are drifting and sticking, you should probably wash off the Jurgen's lotion and jizz before playing your Switch. I've had mine for 2 years now and the joycons are the same as day 1, no drift, no sticking, no lotion.

yeah mine started drifting like a few months after owning it. If dust is causing the problem, none of my other electronics suffer from this problem. I live in a very dusty area, right next to a highway, I can't really stop the dust for now. If it were easy to take apart and clean without fear of breaking something, I'd do that. I ended up just buying a third party switch controller and it works no problems, never had drift....YET. I also like my third party one since it's shaped similarly to a playstation controller and I just like that feel in my hands better, personally. I don't know if the official pro controller for the switch drifts or not, so I didn't get that just to avoid that possibility.

Someone has actually fixed that issue by just using a 1mm piece of paper or cardboard. Just put it below the triggers to push up the metal

Until they resolve any legal disputes I doubt you will see much of any comments from Nintendo. Any statement they make acknowledging the issue could be seen as an admission of guilt and used against them. Whether or not that damages their long term reputation who knows.

mannyva01 10 päivää sitten
I dont know whats funnier.... the fact that this actually pisses you off that they did not do anything.... or the fact that you as a consumer actually supported this company despite the disappointments.... I personally have not upgraded my console since the ps3 xbox 360 and nintendo wii u /wii and guess what ... 15 yrs later its still works like the day I bought it.... and funny enough I am happy with those 3 systems ..... don't need the drama and aggravation of every console after that ...... I choose to pass after the disappointing issues at hand with all 3 generations after what I purchased .....more of you should have done the same
jonni 10 päivää sitten
Let's face the reality, Nintendo will never acknowledge the joycon drift issue because financially for them it's better if they don't. If they acknowledge the issue I bet they will sued into oblivion unless they provide a replacement with a better version for every joycon free of charge (even for joycon not currently drifting) because of what can be considered an admission of hidden fault. But I guess they did not release an updated version because they most likely could not mitigate the issue to justify such cost, the extremely small form factor might be the biggest issue imo then not having a fixed version, it does make sense financially to provide service only the faulty ones. Even if they released a new version with no drift they would not be able to advertise on the "no drift" aspect because it would be admitting there is an issue and admitting it would cost A LOT of money
Terry Szeto
Terry Szeto 10 päivää sitten
I get you can get it fixed for free... But I don't want to bother shipping, waiting, checking etc. I bought a kit to replace the joystick myself. Will continue to, way cheaper and faster. I'm not going to get into the whole "it's Nintendo's responsibility" etc. I get it is but if they aren't fixing it, you gotta find ways around it.

tenalpoen 11 päivää sitten
VK made a video recently explaining how if your joycon stick is off center, AND IF applying pressure to the back fixes it, you can put a piece of paper inside it, under the stick, and that fixes it. However, opening it will void your service warranty and I am not telling you to attempt to repair anything yourself. The reason this happens is a really obvious design flaw and there is no way Nintendo isn't aware of it. They have to deny it exists for legal reasons.

Technically, this issue has been common and around since the old gamecube days, and every nintendo platform since then, with the thumbsticks/joycons, and it only got much worse with the switch, being as successful as it was, which caused a huge uproar and started 3 large lawsuits against Nintendo. Kinda sad for Nintendo and Sony to still have this issue in 2021, ps5 has it bad.

10 minute video and thats what you went down to the comment section to say. Reading into the words in that nintendo press statement, they clearly don’t even want to acknowledge it in general. I buy 3rd party controllers and joycons. If they aren't gonna improve their joycons, i'll just continue to buy the better models. Seriously guys, there are better joycons on the market for like 30 bucks for a PAIR of the alternative, and even if you feel you're taking a risk, just ask yourself: 60 bucks to buy four models that are likely likely 10x better, or 60 bucks for the joycon pair that are guaranteed to suck.

I think I'm one of the lucky ones. Have had my switch for a year and haven't had issues with my controller drifting really. My issue is that my controllers decide to stay on but disconnect from my switch; whether it's attached to the included controller attachment or the console itself, doesn't matter it'll happen. I'll have to reconnect every few weeks to month. They'll be fully charged and perfectly fine after the reconnect too.
Doio 13 päivää sitten
Dude the kits are simple to use and it does fix the problem. Also they are 12 bucks for a kit including all the tools you will need and 2-4 new analog sticks. The last joy con I fixed with a different companies analog stick still works months later after playing through 300+ hours of monster hunter rise, finishing ender lilies and my kid playing smash and bowsers fury, in other words after a ton of use. It didn’t just sit on a shelf.

I put a bit of electronic contact cleaner (ewent dry clean contact spray) in my joycon sticks every month or so and hadn't had drift issues since. I have barely used up the can and it can be used for other electronics (mouse, remote). They definitely should be sued for the poor design though.

One of the biggest reasons I didn’t buy the skyward sword joycons because it’s a paying for drift 😔 it would be great to have till it starts to drift and you know it will it’s just a matter of when. If the price for the joy cons were more reasonable it would help somewhat

I've experienced the issue of Joycon drift, we sent the drifting units (2 Joycons) to Nintendo for repair, they did this quickly and in the case that repairs aren't possible the Joycons are replaced. We recieved fully functioning Joycons in the mail, they still work to this day never had another problem with them. Sending them away is a slight inconvenience but it beats having to pay £70 per new pair of Joycons. I dont think Nintendo can keep this up though, not with the high level of demand for repairs, what happens when they decide to wind-up production of Joycons at the end of the Switch's lifespan? Someone can hopefully begin producing 3rd Party copies at that point but I dont think Uncle Nintendo would give his blessing.
